Olive Young, right, "Chinese Mary pickford" popular motion picture player of Chinese and oriental roles, Rosemary Chew, noted Chinese soprano and artist's model, photographed in the garden of the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles with the new Elk's Club as a back ground. Showing frieze of heroes etc. on wall - thus, in a garden of the Western gods., Olive Young was an actress who was a major star at the Great Wall studio in Shanghai from 1926 to 1929. Born Olive Young in St. Joseph, Missouri, she first visited China at the age of 16, when her parents sent her to Hong Kong to complete her education. Two years later she began her acting career in Shanghai.
